Zulfaa Majiet

Assalāmu ʿalaykum. My name is Zulfaa Majiet, and teaching the Qurʾān is both my vocation and my passion. I completed my Ḥifẓ of the Qurʾān at JEQ in 2014, and I now serve as Head of the Ḥifẓ Department at GoodTree Quranic School. Guiding students through the memorisation of the Book of Allah — and helping them build a lasting, loving relationship with it — is the work I find most meaningful.

My experience
I have been teaching since 2016. For six years I taught at the afternoon Madrasah Miftāḥ al-ʿUlūm in Kenwyn (2016–2022), before taking up my current role leading the Ḥifẓ Department at GoodTree Quranic School. Alongside this, I teach privately on a one-to-one basis in the afternoons. My students range widely — from young children taking their very first steps in Qurʾān, to adult reverts beginning their journey with the Book of Allah — which has taught me to tailor my approach to each individual, whatever their age or starting point.

My teaching style
I believe every student learns differently, so I work patiently and at a pace that suits the individual rather than a one-size-fits-all method. My focus is on building strong foundations — correct recitation and Tajwīd — so that memorisation rests on something solid and lasting. I aim to make lessons encouraging and pressure-free, so that the Qurʾān becomes a source of joy rather than anxiety, especially for younger learners and those new to the faith. Beyond memorisation, I care about tarbiyyah — nurturing character, sincerity, and a deep connection to the Qurʾān that stays with a student long after the lesson ends.
